About Us Now, more than ever, it is important to be able to find, discover, and manage the wealth of information available on the Internet.In the Life Sciences division at the U.S. DOE's Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkely California a special search and discovery algorithm was born that mimics a portion of the process of human cognition. In other words, a technology that imitates the way the human brain associates things with one another. This advanced search engine algorithm set and technology enabled biologists to discovery hidden relationships in genomic data, enabling connections to be formed between human genes based on immense amounts of context and associations. It was observed that this technology could be applied to matching, searching and discovering relationships between any objects located on the Internet. To move this effort forward, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory decided to take a 5% equity stake in an advanced search engine technology company now named SeeqPod, Inc. Co-founded by Kasian Franks, Raf Podowski and Shekhar Lodha, SeeqPod is a totally different breed of search and discovery technology company. In addition to its Finance, Entertainment and Wikipedia search and discovery engines, SeeqPod has plans to launch search and discovery engines within a variety of other verticals with a focus on search results that are 'playable'. We believe that one day, most things on the Internet will be 'playable'. SeeqPod understands that today and in the future search results will need to be played in order for a user to determine if they're relevant. These kinds of search results may include video, slideshows, audio, interactive presentations, Adobe Flash demonstrations, animated graphics, rich multimedia objects and other things in addition to simple text. Hence we have embraced the term 'Playable Search'. The team at SeeqPod is passionate about search and disocvery algorithms. So first we decided to apply some pretty sophisticated technology to Playable Search so that anyone, anywhere can mine the deepest crevices and corners of the Web for media that is publicly available, yet not always easy to find. Currently in Beta, SeeqPod's first consumer site empowers users by allowing them to search and discover audio and video all over the Web. Our intelligent software robots work with targeted crawling systems to auto-submit links to content to the search index.
